Vad vill Dalai Lama, Tibets nu 75-årige andlige ledare i exil och fredspristagare?
Den inflytelserike tibetanske munken Pema Dorjee får ofta den frågan. Han har svaret i beredskap närhelst den dyker upp.
Som igår, fredag, när Pema Dorjee besökte Karlstad och tog en kopp te på NWT:s huvudkontor.
Det finns, förklarade han, i princip tre stora saker Dalai Lama vill åstadkomma.

Berättelsen om en tibetansk munk och kampen för frihet

I kretsen kring Dalai Lama, Tibets andlige ledare, finns buddhistmunken Pema Dorjee.
Pema Dorjee har besökt Värmland. Och han återkommer till Värmland i dag, fredag.
Då för att få en ny bok om sig själv och vägen till att bli en av fredspristagaren Dalai Lamas nära medarbetare.
Boken heter Förändringens vindar, den är tvåspråkig (med engelsk paralelltext) och skriven av en Karlstadsbo, Berit von Scheven.
Hennes boks betydelse minskar inte av att förordet författats av ingen mindre än Dalai Lama själv.

Hjärtat slår för buddhismen

Berit von Scheven satt på Rådhuskaféet i Karlstad en försommardag för tolv år sedan, när kärleken drabbade henne med kraft. Eller vad man nu ska kalla de känslor han väckte hos henne, den rödklädde munk som korsade torget utanför.
Nu ger hon ut en fotobok om Geshe Pema Dorjee och hans gärningar bland tibetanska flyktingar i Indien och Nepal. Inkomsterna från den ska gå just dit.

Berits bok öppnar dörren till Dalai Lama

Den första november ska Berit von Scheven träffa Dalai Lama i norra Indien. I dagarna kommer hennes bok "Förändringens vindar" ut och boken har ett förord skrivet av Dalai Lama. Boken är inspirerad av en resa som Berit gjorde för två år sedan till Nepal för att träffa den tibetanske munken Pema Dorjee. Ett möte som förde henne på resa till en uråldrig kultur, hotad av utplåning.

The book "The winds of Change" is in our hands

After two years of hard work for all of us who have worked with the book “The winds of change” we are now very happy to have the book in our hands. It has become a very beautiful book and we are very proud of our work. The book is already on its way to people who have ordered it on www.windsofchange.se and to Norway, the Netherlands, Finland, the USA and Australian.

Printing Day

Today is Printing Day for the book: ”The winds of change - in the footsteps of a buddhist monk! What a strange feeling it is to ”give away your baby.” Now I just have to wait and can do nothing more. Wait for two weeks and then I will have my first book in my hand. I am happy we did it! All the way! Thank you all who have contributed to the making of the book!

The progress of the book "The winds of Change"

People from 9 different countries like the Facebook-page about the book:” The winds of change – in the footsteps of a Buddhist monk”. That is amazing! Geshe Pema Dorjee, the Buddhist monk in the book, has ended a lot of friends all over the world. Yesterday we sent him a copy of the book. He will look at the manuscript and check that everything is correct and trustworthy. Then the time has come to print it!

Geshe Pema Dorjee has been my friend for ten years. He is an outstanding person with a warm heart helping people in need. To honour him and help him getting money to his many valuable projects I have written this book.

The book is a travel report and at the same time the story of the tireless and dedicated efforts Geshe Pema Dorjee and many others are making in order to preserve Tibetan culture and Buddhist thoughts for future generations.

All people involved in the making of the book have done it non- profit.
All profits from the book will be donated to Geshe Pema Dorjee´s aid projects in India and Nepal.

Under an old apple tree in Lena’s summerhouse we worked hard to get every word in the book “The winds of change” correct and trustworthy. From the apple tree her black and white cat Smulan looked down at us. I am amazed that we still find missing letters or some words to correct. But soon everything will be perfect…
